Specialist in Low Vision and Blindness

Teaching & Education / Special Education

Bachelor of Science Education

Teachers of children with visual impairments work with learners who are blind or who have low vision, from preschool through high school. There is a severe shortage of teachers in this area. Many students in our Low Vision and Blindness sequence do not have difficulty finding a job after they graduate. Special education teachers can be found at all grade levels. They instruct students with a variety of disabilities, such as visual and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. Special education teachers design and modify instructions to meet the special needs of their students.
