This interdisciplinary BS program in women and gender studies has a qualitative emphasis and explores intersectional approaches to the study of gender, race, class, ethnicity and sexuality in national and transnational contexts. Consistent with the university's design imperatives of social embeddedness and use-inspired research, the program's course offerings, research initiatives and cocurricular programs further the understanding of women and gender, and promote social justice. Students gain a solid knowledge base and educational foundation as well as the critical thinking skills necessary for dealing with changing gender roles in society.
