Biomedical Engineering
BME department currently divides the discipline of study into 4 main tracks: Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering, Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, Systems, Imaging and Instrumentation (Bioinstrumentation), and Computational and Systems Biology (Bioinformatics). Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering track focuses on the building materials for medical implants and regenerating or restoring the functions of organs and tissues. Students who choose the Biomechanics track, explore the kinetics (movement and forces), structure, and related injury mechanisms of the human body. In Bioinstrumentation track students study medical devices-implements used for diagnosing, curing, treating, preventing diseases or correcting the structure or function of the body for some health purpose. Computational and Systems Biology concentration displays the use of computer models and simulations to study biological systems and processes.
