You'll use case studies throughout the first two years. The case studies bring together the core sciences that make up pharmaceutical sciences: Chemistry for drug design and discovery using organic chemistry, understand the properties of drugs and medicines through physical chemistry; Pharmaceutics which provide the science of designing and formulating medicines and Biology which helps students understand the disease and drug action through biology and pharmacology, and the design of complex biological drugs. You'll study diseases and some of the most commonly prescribed medicines. You'll also learn about regulations, patenting and business skills in a national and global context. In your third year, you'll apply for an industrial placement. You'll be supported by our placement team to source find placement. These are typically located in the UK, although overseas placements are also possible. Placements could be in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or health and consumer industry. During the placement, you will complete a year-long research project and a distance learning module.

IB of 34 is including 6 in HL Chemistry and a minimum of 5 in one of HL Biology, Physics, Maths or Further Maths. For 2021 entry, the application fee is 20 GBP for a single choice, or 26 GBP for more than one choice. This program only accepts candidates who have completed 12 years of school education. Requirements may differ depending on the country you are located in. Otherwise, you are advised to complete 1 year of Bachelor's degree in your country or choose between International Foundation and International Year One programs.
