Options in Bioprocess Engineering, Options in Ecological Engineering and Forest Engineering are also available under the Biosystems Engineering degree program. The Department of Biosystems Engineering offers an option in Ecological Engineering as part of the Bachelor of Biosystems Engineering degree. This option prepares students to solve environmental problems by combining engineering principles with life sciences to design and manage sustainable systems that are of value and that benefit humans, nature, ecology, and the environment.Examples of design projects that ecological engineers work on include wetland, stream and riparian restorations, green building/infrastructure that increases water and energy use efficiencies, managing and redesigning watersheds due to global climate change and human impacts, urban stormwater management, improving agricultural and urban water quality, aquaculture/aquaponics, hydroponics engineering, and optimizing sensor arrays for ecological monitoring. 



A non-refundable application fee of 60 USD is required. SAT or ACT is required. Moreover, a proof of financial support for themselves AND their dependents, which covers the cost of tuition, fees, housing, food, books, supplies, personal items, transportation and health insurance for a minimum of 9 months is required for the admission.
