The BA in Special Education (SPED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children and adolescents with learning and intellectual disabilities, severe emotional and behavior disorders, and other disabilities. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. It leads to the Illinois LBS1 teaching credential.

The minimum score required is 6.5 with no band score below 6.0, to include a score of 6.5 or higher on the Academic Writing Band. Internet-based Exam | The minimum score is 80, with no section scores below 17 and a score of 18 or higher on the Writing section (a score of 22 or higher on the Writing section is required for graduate students). Paper-based Exam | The minimum score is 550, with a score of 4.5 or higher on the Writing section. Students with scores below the identified minimums may be eligible for admission to Roosevelt University. Also, some programs require higher subset scores. Please check with your Admission Counselor.
