Baltic Sea Region Studies
Humanities & Culture / Linguistics
Master in Humanities in Language Studies
Within the programme, students will study common study courses and specialization courses of the chosen sub-programme. Most of the courses are focused on the multifaceted study and research of the Baltic Sea region, focusing more on the eastern part – the Baltics and Finland, as well as not avoiding to look at localities less present in public discourse (for example, divided East Prussia). Thematically, the sub-programme focuses on literature, music, audiovisual arts, cultural history, language situation, as well as aspects related to population, environment and tourism ("Sustainable tourism development and product management"). In addition to cross-regional themes, a special attention in the linguistic module is paid to the problems of the Baltic Finns (Estonians, Finns, Livs, etc.). The interdisciplinarity of the sub-programme is ensured not only by the inclusion of different disciplines, but also by cross-cutting themes (e.g. “consequences of totalitarianism and their overcoming”, “island world”, etc.) both within one thematic module and between different modules.
A non-refundable application fee might be required by the university. Credits for this course are estimated upon European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
