This program combines the required courses for the BA in French with those required for Teacher Certification in French for grades P-12. To meet the requirements for state certification in teaching French, students take 39 credits in the French program (language, literature, and culture of the French-speaking world), plus required coursework in Teacher Education. Students who wish to pursue P-12 teacher certification in French must apply to and be admitted to the Teacher Education Program. French majors must have a "B" average in French in order to apply to and successfully complete the Teacher Education Program. In addition, students must pass the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) prior to the Student Teaching semester. Students should consult with the French Teacher Education Coordinator to prepare for this examination.
