Students who choose a chemistry major will be prepared for professional employment in the chemical and chemistry-related industry, for doctoral study in chemistry or biochemistry, for professional education in fields related to science or for teacher certification. The Major in Chemistry combines coursework in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics with laboratory work and a required research component. Graduates of this program find employment in industry, matriculate into doctoral or Master’s programs or become high school teachers. 120 credits of coursework is required for the baccalaureate degree with a minimum 2.0 overall GPA, and a minimum 2.0 major GPA.
