The field of public health is about both preventing disease and injury, and promoting better health among different populations of people. Students learn how to plan, implement, evaluate and sustain public health efforts that enhance population health and eliminate health disparities from small programs that provide direct health education to groups of people in different communities to broad-based campaigns for better public policies and laws at the local, state, national and global level. Students in the BS in Public Health program learn how to create and implement health education programs and policies that target issues as diverse as cancer, obesity, sexuality, osteoporosis, violence, maternal and child health, substance abuse, adolescent health, stress and many more.
