This program is for students with a baccalaureate degree who are interested in teaching and wish to pursue Teacher Certification in French for grades P-12. To meet the requirements for state certification in teaching French, students take coursework in the French program (language, literature, and culture of the French-speaking world), plus required coursework in Teacher Education. Additional undergraduate coursework in the certification content area may be required to meet State and University certification standards. Upon successful completion of the program the student will be recommended to the State of New Jersey for initial teacher certification (Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing, or CEAS). The CEAS authorizes the holder to teach in New Jersey public schools and expedites the ability to become certified in most other states.
